What is the procedure for the engineering report?
You are required to have a report to obtain a permit. You must use a licensed contractor, and the tile must ship directly to the job-site.(if not, the homeowner/roofer is responsible for payment.)
How do I determine whether I need light-weight or standard weight roof tile?
Your roofing contractor will advise you, or you can contact a structural engineer and pay for the report.
Does Eagle tile have a hail rating and/or qualify for insurance discounts?
The concrete roof tile produced in Eagle’s Phoenix, Arizona plant has received hail impact resistance certification through the Roof Covering Impact Certification Program of Architectural Testing. Eagle’s Malibu and Capistrano tiles have a Class 4 rating while the flat tiles have a Class 3 rating. The test procedure used is that of FM 4473 whereby ice balls of various sizes are propelled at high velocity directly at the roofing material simulating the real world actuality of a hail storm. The resulting rating scale, based on dimension of the ice balls, velocity and kinetic energy, provides a class ranking between 1 and 4 with 4 being the highest rating and therefore providing the best protection. Eagle is proud to announce that our products received Class 3 (1 ¾” ice balls) and Class 4 (2″ ice balls) ratings.
Does Eagle tile qualify for insurance discounts in hail prone areas?
The concrete roof tile produced in Eagle’s Phoenix, Arizona plant has received hail impact resistance certification through the Roof Covering Impact Certification Program of Architectural Testing. This certification has qualified Eagle product for insurance discounts through State Farm.
